Vedal Pronounced as Vaedaal (Tamil: வெடால் ) (also known as Chozha Kerela Charurvedi mangalam @ Neelasathurvedimangalam @ Veera Chozha Sathurvedimangalam) is a village in the Cheyyur taluk, Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu, India It is located 105 kilometres (65 mi) from Chennai and 45 kilometres (28 mi) from Pondicherry on the Tamil Nadu East Coast Road ECR. Vedal is situated about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the Bay of Bengal coast and is well known for its Shivan temple, the last temple to be built by the great Raja Raja Chola I. The Shivan statue worshiped in this temple is said to be the second largest statue next to the Shivan statue of Gangaikonda Chozhapuram.
